9/16 inch antiqued pewter oval girl first communion miraculous medal on 16 inch stainless steel rhodium plated chain. Around the outside of the frame of Mary on the front of the medal are the words inscribed, "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee." The year 1830 is inscribed on the front which represents the year Catherine Laboure, the daughter of charity was blessed with the apparitions Mary Immaculate. The back of the medal has an engraved "M" with a cross on the top and the "sacred hearts" underneath surrounded by twelve stars. The large "M" represents Mary as mother. The left heart is the sacred heart and the right heart is the immaculate heart.The twelve stars represent the 12 apostles who formed the first church.
