Hubert was a hunter and somewhat dismissive of religion and spirituality. After skipping Mass to go hunting, he received a sign from heaven (a stag with a crucifix in its antlers) and enduring the death of his wife, Hubert joined the Church. He became a well-known miracle-worker and exorcist, and even after his death, people came to his tomb to be cured of rabies. The cross and stag Saint Hubert saw in the forest is featured very prominently on Jagermeister bottles!
