Therese was a frail girl whose ill health left her deprived from doing much of the charity work she wanted to do. In her teenage years, Therese became a Carmelite nun in order to fully devote herself to prayer, offering up her sickness and suffering to God. Therese was known for enjoying simple conversation with friends and family and just spending time listening and sharing moments. She delighted in ordinary events, like doing laundry or washing dishes. She teaches us to enjoy simple things too. Though tuberculosis cut her life short at age 24, she lives on as an example of pure and simple love and kindness, a “Little Flower” who brings tranquility to life.
